Online Storage And Backup

Ever got that feeling when your desktop or notebook corrupts and the the system's having problem to startup nicely? The first thing that comes to mind is 'how do I access that file?', probably your most used daily file. Do I have a backup?

Some basic tips for 'online' lifestyle.

1) Keep your number of files as minimum as possible in your notebook or desktop. Delete files that are hardly used after sometime.

2) Even though thumb drives are cheap, consider to store important files (i.e files you cannot do without) online. There are a number of online storage providers and most of them are free (for up to certain size). Consider providers like humyo_com and and adrive_com who provide up to 30GB and 50GB respectively free!

3) Some of these providers like humyo_com even automatically sorts your files into picture, videos, list in order.

4) You can of course 'open up' (share) some file links to the outside world or selected friends. Example you may wish to share your photos during the camping trip. Or, example you can share a list of your self-penned mp3 songs to outside world, and you can click one of these songs and humyo_com will play the list, without login to your account.

5) Always create different folders to help us organise/locate our own files. Ask yourself 'I need my 'todo_list.txt' file. Now where did I file this file the last time?' What's the first thing on your mind i.e the likely folder you would put? Say a kind of 'chores' folder?

The word 'online' is self-explanatory. With broadband so much cheaper today, we are 'on' as in 'online' all the time. So it makes sense to use, keep and store data and files and we can access them online anytime and anywhere.
