This error 'Fatal error: Call to undefined function: civicrm_initialize()' if from the ecommerce module, when we enabled the ecivicrm.module which is part of the ecommerce modules (there are many).

Just disable this ecivicrm.module.

Select > administer > modules > [ecivicrm] disable > Save configurations.

The ecommerce module works fine without this.
