Web Hosting Account - Opening and Basic Setup
Web hosting today is so user-friendly that any beginner can learn how to host your web site.
Look for a web hosting company to host your web site. Get one that runs on Liunx with cPanel manager and follow their opening account instructions.
Open Web Hosting Account
Select the web host company
Follow their payments instructions.
Choose the option 'I have my own domain name' (web hosting companies also provide registration services).
Your account should be setup within next 24 hours (usually less than that).
You'll be given an email with username and password.
Do not worry about the long details in this email. As suggested, don't delete this email. Just keep it and refer to it whenever needed.
Access Web Hosting Account Via cPanel
To get to your account, open a web browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) and enter directly into the url address box:
https://www.my_domain.com/:2083/. or http://www.my_domain.com/cpanel/.
Press Enter or Select 'Go'.
Enter username, password.

Check "Don't show this again", click "No, I'm fine thanks" or follow the tutorial "Get Started Now".
Change Password
Select > Change Password.

Select > [Old Password,enter] original_password > [New Password,enter] create_own_pwd > [New Password(again),enter] create_own_pwd > Change your password now! > Home
Note: You will have to login again with the new password.
Create Emails
Create 2 emails for your account
Select > Mail > Manage/Add/Remove Accounts > Add Account > [E-Mail] 'admin'[@my_domain.com] > [password] xxxxx > [Quota-change to] 1 [meg] > Create > Go Back.
Similarly, create another email myname@my_domain.com.
Select > Mail > Forwarders > Add Forwarder
(to forward all your emails to your current email while testing until you feel comfortable later)
Type in > 'admin'[@my_domain.com] > (example) my_usual_mail@yahoo.com > Add Forwarder > Go Back
Do same for myname@my_domain.com
Select > Home (upper right hand-corner)
Note: To access your email, go to:-
https://www.my_domain.com/:2096/. or https://www.my_domain.com/webmail.
Press Enter or Select 'Go'.
Enter username [must be fullname as in myname@my_domain.com], password.
To synchronize your web email with your Microsoft Outlook Express (in your desktop or notebook), see here
Set Contact Information 'email'
Observe the red words 'No contact email has been set......'. We need to set a default email for any information regarding changes in our cPanel.
Select > [Please update your contact information] here > [Contact email] admin@my_domain.com > Save Email
Some Tips
Get a host that offers a free trial period , usually one month
Select monthly payment option first so that it's easier to get out easy if you do not like the host.
For password, choose at least 12 to 15 characters. Choose/makeup non-sensical eg. oduTY38&@kPqua%, then makeup/imagine 'something' from it like:
oduTY38&@kPqua% means
open_door_uncle Thailand_Yugoslav_38_&and_@also keep_Penang question_uncle_anwer_%
[note: mix with upper/lowercase and other characters]
Synchronize Web Email With Microsoft Outlook Express
Of course you must have already setup your email in cPanel above.
Start your Outlook Express in your desktop or notebook.
Select Tools > Accounts > Add > Mail > [Display name] myname > Next > [E-mail address,enter] myname@my_domain.com > Next > [My incoming mailserver, default leave as it is] POP3 > [Incoming mail POP,enter] mail.my_domain.com > [Outgoing mail SMTP] mail.my_domain.com > Next > [Account name, enter fullname] myname@my_domain.com > [Remember password] Uncheck > Next > Finish.
That's it.
If you have more than one email address in Outlook, just select the email you wish to use from the drop-down box.
